Works - "Nautilus Magnificat" (Glory)
Oil on Canvas
40" x 60"
August 18 2009
© David Alan Sincavage 2009
This is the first in a series of three Nautilus interpretations.
I have always been fascinated by the beautiful chaos and random symmetry that exists in nature. I can think of no better example of this than the Nautilus shell.
Represented is the Nautilus in a state of calm as the world around it is in turmoil.
Magnificat anima mea Dominum ("My soul doth magnify the Lord").
I typically create musical playlists that I play through as a loop until the piece is completed. It keeps me in the mood of the moment and allows me to focus. I've provided the music used to create this piece for you.
Please support these musicians the old-fashioned way...Purchase Their Music.
Song Playlist Loop (Song/Musical Group/Album/Track Length):
"Awaken"/Yes/Going For The One/15:35
"The Gates Of Delirium"/Yes/Relayer/21:54
"Parallels"/Yes/Going For The One/6:12

Works - "Nautilus Miles Militis" (War)
Oil on Canvas
48 x 40 inches
September 13 2009
© David Alan Sincavage 2009
I've been in a painting groove...metaphorically speaking, as if I were sitting inside the leather cup of an overstretched, creative slingshot and it launched.
I've got one more Nautilus to finish in the series of three. The broad theme in the series is: Glory, War, and Family...family being the one I'm working on now.
I am taking the form of the Nautilus shell and merging three very real consequences of animal/human exisitence: the inherent struggle to survive and procreate(Family); the necessary evil of conquer or be conquered (War); and, lastly, the still, quiet peace we find as we rest in awe of our own magnificent creation (Glory). Enjoy!
Song Playlist Loop (Song/Musical Group/Album/Track Length):
"It's All Too Much"/The Beatles/Yellow Submarine/6:28
"Question"/Moody Blues/A Question of Balance/5:48
"Crystal Wrists"/Peter Murphy/Deep/4:09
"Fake Plastic Trees"/Radiohead/The Bends/4:51
"Bridge Of Sighs"/Robin Trower/Bridge Of Sighs/5:01
"Killer"/Van Der Graaf Generator/H To He, Who Am The Only One/8:24
"The Gates Of Delirium"/Yes/Relayer/21:54

Works - "Nautilus Progenies" (Family)

September 23 2009

This is the last in the series. I titled it "Progenies" as it relates to the entire family - the lineage: past/present/future.
Represented is the male and female courtship, the relational bond, the sexual union, and the birth of the child to further carry the family seed. Enjoy!
I typically create musical playlists that I play through as a loop until the piece is completed. It keeps me in the mood of the moment and allows me to focus. I've provided the music used to create this piece for you.

Works - Recent Commission
I was recently very honored to have had four of my shell and coral works purchased by The Breakers Hotel on Palm Beach. A note from the designer mentioned that in the hotel's very long history this is the first time works were purchased by a local artist.
All images rendered in ink and watercolor.

Works - "Family Snapshot"
Pen & Ink Pencil on Paper

"Oh how i dreamed of a fantastically, superb family all draped and disguised in the waterfalls of wonder; where little boys and girls walk amongst the cheer of swollen, rippled waters...so anxious for the remedy to soothe the drippings of chores and the twisted things that parents would have us do ~(sigh)~ can't we just bathe in the delight of the evening shade where moths pattern the glow of the street lamps with their whimsical ways of doing?...Or, are we all simple questions floating through the promised land of time trying desperately to justify our misguided belief that we might be...Omniscient beings?"

Comments - Miami Guitartown Kickoff Event
On Wednesday night, Gibson Guitar held its kickoff event for the roll-out of the 10-foot painted guitars throughout the city of Miami. My wife and I attended and had a very nice time meeting the other artists involved in the project and was interviewed during the event by WLRN 91.3FM Radio/Miami Herald News reporter Leah Fleming. I am very grateful to Gibson Guitar and the City of Miami for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent.
The links of the media news story and the radio news interview are listed below.

Poetry - "Under Our Father's Tree"
in a peace-filled life of love colored dreams;
of sky laughter and of rippled pools,
and of the bathing eye lights where all smitten lovers
pronounce their nibbling rules;
where hand-in-hand dancers make toward attractive safe harbors;
where warmth comforts the beg of passions
to etch on the stemmed gift giver,
whose roots grow beyond our majestic fruits of forever...
and where all our tender thoughts combine
to shape the secrets of perfumed divine...
so that as pardoned caresses soften our seat
it is with destiny we dine with our Father so complete.

Comments - Miami Guitartown
I have not posted in quite a while. But a quick update on what is newsworthy: I have been busy painting a 10-foot guitart for Gibson Guitar and Miami Guitartown. I am painting in a style that is colorful and fun. The title of the piece is called, "Fishes" and has been placed at the entry to Bayfront Park in Miami.
